Proceeds benefit saving the KEMP’S RIDLEY SEA TURTLE, an Endangered Species. We hope to help researchers increase their population, rehabilitate injured animals and educate the public about their situation

Shady Oak teachers and staff had the pleasure of meeting Jean Kummerow, a long time friend of Joyce Trigger’s at our March staff meeting. Not only did she help us all learn more about ourselves including our teaching and learning styles and how we all contribute to the Shady Oak team. But she also surprised us by telling about her uncle, Henry Hildebrand who was a marine biologist and was one of the first scientists to document the Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle’s nesting site in Mexico. While I am not into mathematical theories and principles, I love how these related stories demonstrate ‘the butterfly effect’. If not for the actions of Henry Hildebrand, would Shady Oak students be inspired to raise money for Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle? Fascinating!!!!! Thank you Jean 🙂
