Collage Cats

K/1 worked on another cat project this week. This time students practiced the technique of paper collage. This project was inspired by a picture I saw on pinterest

Students had the option of using a template to trace their cat or to draw their own. Colorful scrapbook paper was supplied as well as brightly colored pages from magazines. Students were instructed to cut small pieces from the paper and arrange the pieces making sure they overlap inside the cat outline. The collage was completed by gluing two cat eyes to the cat’s face. Not only did students practice the technique of paper collage but they also practiced patience, and persistance! Collage requires a great deal of perseverance!

I just love these 🙂 (Not all the students were able to complete the project during class, but will have the opportunity to do so the next time they have art.)
