Scrapbook Paper Strip Easter Egg Art

With Easter just around the corner I thought it would be fun for K/1 to make an Easter inspired project. I found the perfect lesson at the following link;

http://www.minted.com/julep/2013/02/26/paper-strip-easter-egg-art/

Students were provided with a piece of paper that had an outline of an egg, 1/2 inch wide strips of scrapbook paper and a thicker piece of paper with an egg shaped cut-out to act as a frame. Students selected strips of paper and glued them on top of the egg outline. Once the egg was completely covered  they were each given an egg shaped frame to glue on top of their paper strips. A simple but effective work of art 🙂

About stephwheatley

Formerly from Britain, I have lived in the USA since 1989. My qualifications are in library science, but I've had a passion for all things artsy and crafty for as long as I can remember! I became the Primary Art Teacher at Shady Oak Christian School in 2009 and am thoroughly enjoying myself. I teach students at both Shady Oak Christian School and Shady Oak Primary School. It's wonderful to be able to share my passion at a place that believes in the importance of learning through creativity. Please check out the Shady Oak websites at http://www.shadyoak.net/ and http://www.shadyoakprimary.com/ to learn more about these unique schools located in Richmond, TX.
